Before you start with any asana or breathing exercise, it is always advised to start with a warm-up yoga.

Plough Posture (Halasana)

  • Improves digestion and very effective in Weight Loss.

  • Strengthens the abdominal muscles and improves Pancreas and Kidney function.

  • It helps to make the spinal cord strong and flexible. It helps to reduce stress.

How to do?

  • Lie down on the back, keep hands near to thighs & palm to face downwards.

  • Breathe-in lift your legs and make it straight (0 deg to 90 deg), breathe-out bring your legs slowly to touch the ground over the head (90 deg to 180 deg) as shown. Concentrate knees should be straight.

  • Feel the stretch of spine, neck, stomach, shoulder and leg muscles while breathe-in and out.

  • After 3-4 complete rounds of breathe-in / out, breathe-in come back to straight position (180 deg to 90 deg) and breathe-out come back to the ground (90 deg to 0 deg).

  • Repeat this for twice to get more benefits.

  • People who have shoulder and neck issues should be careful while doing this yoga, do with minimum stretch (only up to your comfort level, you can keep legs on the sofa or chair instead of keeping it on the ground  as shown above picture). Day by day you can stretch more.
