VIRYASTAMBHANASANA

(INSTANT ENERGY POSE)

Before you start with any asana or breathing exercise, it is always advised to start with a warm-up yoga.  

Viryastambhanasana ( also known as the instant energy posture) is one among the other standing poses.

 

Benefits:

  • It helps you to get rid of initial stages of diabetes.

  • You will get a good night’s sleep after this and it gives you a momentary freshness.

  • It enhances the function of your abdominal organs and uterus.

  • It increases good blood circulation to back bone and back muscles.

 

How to do?

  • Stand on legs; bring your right leg in front, left leg at back (toes perpendicular to right leg).

  • Turn your body towards right leg; breathe in raise your arms.

  • Breathe out bend right knee, keep right hand below the right thigh and place it near to the right foot. Keep your left arm near to right foot. Bend down to touch the foot/ground by your forehead or as much as possible towards the ground. Concentrate your left leg should be straight and heel touching the ground as shown.

  • Feel the muscle stretching at your stomach, shoulder, abdominal joints while breathe-in and out.

  • After 3-4 complete rounds of breathe-in / out, come back to normal while breathe-in.

  • Repeat this for the other side and repeat the whole cycle for twice.

 

Caution:

  • People who have shoulder and hip issues should be careful, do with minimum stretch (only up to your comfort level). Day by day you can stretch more.
